32 Stories is an audio installation involving narratives about personal relationships. I am interested in the electronic inscription of personal stories (and, in a broader sense, the oral histories that culture produces). These stories have been collected, solicited, donated and plagiarized from friends and strangers. This work further develops ideas which I began to explore in my video installation Talk Soon (2001), which formed a narrative using text from an e-mail relationship I had with a man living in Brooklyn, New York.

In 32 Stories, the anonymity of the internet makes it possible for these authors to disclose -- whether these stories be truth or fantasy. In my representation of these texts, the voices, the speakers, give these stories an identity.
